I broke the ice!

I've been fantasizing for years about drawing comics and writing a graphic novel. I work in a library, and when it's quiet, I practice searching the catalog by different subjects and end up checking out WAAAY too many books. A great number of these are graphic novels - I especially love graphic memoirs. I just inhale them! My art background is in painting, but drawing cartoons was my first experience as a child artist. I've been yearning to do it, but have been terrified for some reason. I'm always finding good excuses not to get started. I am a perceptual painter, who relies completely on looking at my subject matter, so I knew the images in my head would resist the transition to paper.

I set up a separate workspace, away from my painting studio. I assembled all my materials. I did my research (reading more and more graphic novels and memoirs!) Yesterday, I was finally going to get down to business. And this happened:

That was yesterday. Today, I finally drew my first comic!
